I joined 2degrees recently and I have discovered a strange problem that seems to be related to the 2degrees SIM card.

I have a Galaxy S phone.  When I initially open the contacts application on the phone, it takes 11 seconds to open!  Normally it is about half a second maximum.  I was puzzled as to what could have changed that has caused this.  After a process of elimination I have discovered that this only happens when the 2degrees SIM is in the phone.  I have a couple of other SIMs I use overseas and when these are in the phone the contacts application opens normally (about half a second).  It also loads the contacts app very quickly if there is no SIM in the phone.

I tried removing the contact saved on the SIM but this doesnt make any difference.  I also tried configuring the contacts app to ignore contacts save on the SIM but this didnt make any difference either.

Is it possible that I could have a faulty 2degrees SIM card?  I thought a SIM card would either work or not work if it was faulty.  I can reproduce the problem at will.  Maybe I will take the phone to a 2degrees shop and try another SIM to see if the problem occurs or not.

If it's convenient to take it to a 2degrees store I would do that. They'll be able to pop another 2D SIM in to see if it reacts the same. It's the first I've heard of this happening.

If it is your SIM they'll be able to swap it over to a blank one for you.

Thanks for the reply.

I went to a store and put in another SIM and lo and behold the 11 second delay is gone.  It is as fast as every other SIM card.  I put back my original SIM card to prove the case by checking that the problem returned which it did.

I spoke to the call center and they told me to buy a blank SIM card and they will credit the cost to my account when I call them to transfer the number to the new SIM.
