I'm currently trying to escape the clutches of Slingshot, and snap's pricing looks good -- but "pricing looks good" is what bit me last time.

What are speeds like, both nationally and internationally?  I don't torrent but I do often drag large files down over rsync over ssh so I care about my ssh sessions being throttled...

Snap are generally very well regarded.

Speeds are pretty good for me.  Was pulling 1.3MB/s from EA Origin yesterday, often get speeds around that... Sometimes it does drop but rarely below 400/500Kb/s, and that was even over the Snap 'All you can eat' weekend.

I used to use snap around 18 months ago and also move large files to and from the US and AU via rsync+SSH.

Speeds were great but then terrible for 3 months with no resolution so I left. No idea what things are like these days.

I guess the only issue I have with Snap is being a gamer and UK Expat, I often connect to the UK to play games with mates on Xbox Live etc... Snap does not currently have a handover link in Auckland and so my latency is not as good as it could be... But I still get around 310ms to the UK which I think is bloody brilliant considering we are 18,000km away from the country!

Telecom, they certainly aren't my first choice but I haven't found anyone else who can provide consistent International speeds yet.

It costs more but the ability to work is more important than the price. I'll probably re-evaluate later this year when the 2 year contract is up and VDSL is hopefully available.
