Hi, being a “2 Degrees” customer in Dunedin I have been looking forward to “2 Degrees” installing there own cell sites (mainly to get access to data at a cheaper rate than the national roaming rate I currently have to pay), and I am pleased to say I can now see some light at the end of the tunnel.

In Dunedin Aurora Energy the Dunedin City Council owned Electrical Network has a number of Fibre Optic Cable Networks around the city, and from information I have picked up “2 Degrees” will be using some of this network to connect to Cell sites they cannot get line of site access to with Microwave Dishes and their plan is to complete the installation of the Dunedin Cell Sites by the end of October 2011.

One of these sites is at the Aurora Energy Halfway Bush Substation where today Monday 12th September a Drilling Rig can be seen working, I believe drilling the foundations for a Cell Tower.

So if the information I have picked up is correct cheaper data could be here by the end of October.
