Hi guys,
I have been reading through the slingshot forum and others have also had problems getting their internet activated on time and various other problems.
Having read those threads, I decided to take a gamble and go with slingshot (instead of telecom).
I signed up a long time ago (cannot even remember now) and only yesterday did the chorus tech come around. Firstly, I got a phone call from chorus saying "are you home? we are ready to swap you over" I said "no sorry I am in a lecture at university I will be home in 30mins"
the response: "sorry I will be busy on another job, I will come around tomorrow"

at this point I was angry and disclosed some bad words which resulted in another tech coming to my house. After 2 hrs I was connected and the DSL is all good to go.

Now I have waited 2 days and still have no internet, slingshot won't let me connect because they must wait until a report is received from chorus.

Just called up now, The slingshot assisstant said "sorry it might not be until tomorrow and we will send you a txt."

I told him what I thought about that and explained how I have received 2 txts saying "you are now connected please reset your modem" and 3 emails saying "what are you waiting for? enjoy your naked DSL now!"

I am still without internet (using 2 degrees stick at the moment) and recommend others to not put yourself through this nightmare.

Thanks slingshot for letting me waste countless hours on hold, getting my hopes up via multiple txt and email saying its all good to go. I also told the guy if it is not going by tonight, I will demand a month for free as this is 1: a waste of time 2: terrible service 3: false information being sent to myself.

gz ftw

Hi b0untypure1,

Very sorry for what have experienced during you sign up, It certainly does sound like a nightmare.

If you can send me a PM with your account details I will do my best to rectify this for you and change your opinion on Slingshot.

Cheers,
Joe.

Wow.
Just wow.

If every slingshot employee was like Joe, that company would rule New Zealand.

I won't disclose all of what happened, but I will dearly thank Joe for his help, and he has 200% changed my opinion of slingshot as an ISP. I will definitely look to renew my internet at the end of the 12 month term, and continue to do so throughout university.
