So did anyone find out if it can output more than 2 channels of audio? One of my reasons to upgrade from sat is the ability to use those supposedly occasional multichannel feeds.

Do you know if youtube or lightbox or ondemand supports dolby digital 5.1?
That's the one format I can test if I move the box to a different room that does have a 5.1 setup
I can test this for you, but only if one of the above streaming services output dolby digital - like I know netflix does, but this box can't use netflix right now - the room that has 5.1 doesn't have a satellite cable though so I can only test streaming stuff
Doesn't TV 3 and prime have the occasional multichannel audio program? I have no idea as I dont currently get UHF)
Just curious if you think this will ever get netflix or is it just one of those its in the works things that never happen.

I would guess, that as FreeView were involved in it's development, the answer would be:
"It's on the NEVER list!"

sweet308: The Freeview android app sometimes (but not always) shows a Dolby symbol on the descriptions of channels broadcast in multichannel, where the parental ratings, closed captions etc symbols normally appear.
Went ahead and got one of these for my 75 year old Mother. This was somthing that she wanted to replace the old homecast freview TV recoder that I could not revive (Rebuilt the power supply 3 times). This device was clearly not ready for plubic compsumption as it is unreliable for what it was designed to do for 2/3rds of its functions. There is no easy reset as the hard drive stops responding to recording/playback or file deleation, this is on the TV recording part only unpluging the power will restore this function and it is unrelible enough so that when my mother wants to do somthing it will fail the warnings are cryptic at best. Another problem for TV recording is the EPG (freview gide) forgets the content of a channel so you have to manualy go to the channle first. As for the play store most of the apps do not want to install due to an error relating to storage. After 17 days this device is going back, as it did not meet even the vageset promise of the adverts, I am convinced this unit was not fit for purpos under the Consumers Garrentee Act.

I have also been getting the 963 errors often when trying to download new apps...Have tried a number of "usual" fixes. I have sent a message to DishTV via Facebook enquiring about this. I have also suggested that the guide be "cached" and updated every couple of hours rather than grabbed live from the transmissions.
I am borderline taking this back. It needs a lot more work to refine.
Another suggestion for DishTV....after watching a recording, when you press the back button to stop watching, how about giving an option to delete. Currently you have to go back to the list of recorded programs and then go back into the show and delete.

Just had a reply from DishTV - they are aware of the 963 errors when installing apps and hope to have an update in about a week.
Hi,
First time post on geekzone. Trying to figure way to get Netflix via this box. I can't even seem to cast to it from my mobile. Can others do that?
Thanks,
Matt
kiwibirch:I have just bought one of these today - I am also having the same audio drop out issue, both for Live TV or Recorded TV on both PCM audio and AC3.
Is anyone else having audio issues?
Why are we beta testing this box for them? it cost $430.00 !!
Interestingly, streaming audio is unaffected. Did you ever get a solution to this issue? I'm on latest firmware 118 etc.
Thanks
No the issue is still not sorted and dishtv don't seem too interested in resolving things.
They got me to install a test build with logging enabled and they didn't even get that right. I went through their instructions and captured 5 dropouts
but nothing had been logged to the USB key. Eventually i got a reply saying that the build had issue with logging (not sh*t really!!..) and they
were preparing a new build. I still don't have it. I've not had any reply to my last 3 emails.
I even went as far as getting an HDMI splitter and sending a feed directly to the soundbar as LG OLED Tv's have had
sound dropout issues reported. But i still have the same issue.
I had the intention of dropping MySky for this box and had a UHF aerial installed, the works. Cost me a small fortune but to be honest
i'm at the point where i might return it and get a refund. Apart from many, many hours of testing different settings, cables, internet research into the issue etc
the box has sat unused because in my setup its unusable.
This product seems rushed to market, probably to meet the Xmas Holiday period. How could they release a product that failed to record and playback
for more than 45mins!! ... I cringe everytime i see that TV advert for this thing.
BTW My box even has issues when using the internal TV speakers on my LG OLED so it's not the soundbar.
What TV do you have? I keep asking DishTV if someone else has reported this and they have told me no one else has.
Make sure you ring them and let them know....
