Having difficulty retaining sound on fast forwading library recordings. Aftrer fast forwarding and playing we have no sound. Worse when we go at 32 times. Not so bad at 4 times fast forward. Have to go back to library and start again to get the sound back. Is there something I'm doing wrong.

That's weird, just went to watch something from the library, and my go to pause, play, and rewind play pause, play combo didn't work. Back to library, still no sound, combo, nothing, toggled the mute button, on then off again, and Hey presto! Sound is back baby!

Taniachch: Have also had issues with sound sometimes when fast forwarding, sometimes no sound, sometimes out of sync. I've found that pressing pause then play helps, or a couple of seconds of rewind, play, pause play etc usually sorts out any issues. Here's a bit of good news for a change. The other day I was catching up with some episodes of a series and noticed one episode was 15 minutes short and said partial instead of recorded. I check each episode number to determine what I was missing and it said the partial episode was due to temporary power failure, but it had found a repeat episode the next day and got all of that one instead! I was impressed! Obviously not every channel does quick repeats (Bravo), but I thought it was pretty clever!

Sorry, that's misleading upon reading it back. It said partial, and about the power failure, but DID NOT tell me it found the repeat episode the next day! I discovered that myself from checking recorded episode numbers. Hey, it's clever, but not that clever! 😅

Yes I tried, mute on and off but nothing. I am not sure if its related, but there appears to be two types of sound volume adjustment. One is the normal one with the TV and the other where there is a round circle in the bottom right hand corner. The circle one, does not seem to be very effective, in that volume doesnt increase very much at all. Would appear to be related to the Box. If I toggle to the TV (I am using a harmony 650) and then increase the volume, it seems to work OK. Will have to try that when fast forwarding and losing sound to see if its related. Will advise later.

i had a lock up during playback last night, the first one in ages, only hard reset sorted it .  Seems the latest update is not as good as the last potentially :(

the lockup happened after trying to resume playback after fast forward by pressing the play key. locked the screen solid and it wouldnt respond to anything with a single frame of the program to entertain us while i looked over the paper to see if we would have anything recording at that time slot,  we did , so we used the tv to determine when an advert was on and did the hard reset then to avoid a double issue.

If you have your box sending its sound to the TV, then the TV volume limits the maximum volume available.  The volume control on the box can only control the volume on the input into the TV, and hence will only control the volume up to the maximum that is set as the current volume on the TV.  If you turn the TV volume up to full, then the box can control the volume over the full range.

I have an issue with TVNZ OnDemand that I believe has been raised before where after the first ad it fails back to the menu without playing the show. This has been ongoing for a few weeks now. Is anyone else having this issue? I'd prefer not to have to do a reset but if that's the only option...

I'm running the latest firmware, I have it installing automatically and there was an update just recently. Hasn't fixed my issue though.

I find I need to turn off Smart DNS to avoid similar behaviour from TVNZ OnDemand on the desktop. Could that possibly be your issue if you have it in your router?

Right, don't use a DNS service so won't be that.

Check Number 2 of the Transmissions & Broadcasts / Freeview Plus section on http://freeviewforum.co.nz/page/network-status - does that sound like what you are seeing?

Right - I believe the apps are passed through "as is" and therefore DishTV have no real control over the process. Sounds like it might be worth raising it with Freeview or TVNZ themselves?
