I still find MediaPortal somewhat flakey/not-very-girlfriend-friendly. It's good, and I can use it, it's full of features too. But to be honest, I like the simplicity of MediaCenter. I don't need all the bells & whistles of MP, but for now it will suffice for my DVB-T as I have still not got Fiji to find any channels - Maybe I should start with a fresh install... otherwise I think I shall wait patiently for the RC.

Jeef: Im using the nova -t 500 also and had no trouble getting 15 channels. Set the region to Norway (although I think NZ works too)

Trouble getting EPG into Fiji
I can leave the setting as "use broadcasters EPG" but I only get the currently showing detail. I've read a bit about getting xmltv into vista (i had it going a treat in MCE2005) but I am struggling with Vista (did Fiji change something?)

I've read all the guides, but when I put the reagion as NZ and put 0000 as the postal code it says something like no guide available. I've tried putting the reagion as norway or ozzie but same result.

Is anyone importing xmltv into fiji? or even just vista?

I thought reading through this thread that you did not need xmlTVNZ in Fiji as the forcast is now automatic....

nudge: which city are you in? I'm in chch, maybe the frequencies are setup wrong for Sugarloaf??

With so much success from others, I'm thinking I might try a clean install this weekend

Jeef, Im in AK. I did a fresh install, then sp1, the upgrade beta and all was good (interesting I saw your post about only getting radio, I had the same result before I applied the beta - are you sure you haven't got a flakey beta?)

OK, so why isn't the xmltv import working...
Netv, what region and postcode did you use. Is there a guide you can point me to?
I've been following the one on reven and using NZ/0000 - but it says no download available. I've suffed around with IIS and can browse to the localhost...html files etc before putting in 0000 code.

Fiji uses the broadcasters epg and DVB-T is only boradcasting the currently showing details (and maybe plus one)

Hmm, that gives me an idea, I also have DVB-S card kicking around somewhere and I seem to recall the satelite broadcasts a few more days, do you know if it does of hand?

The DVB-S side of the beta works great. This includes 7 days worth of guide info from the EIT stream over the air.

I have had no trouble with the DVB-S functionality, other than a minor flicker every now and then - probably driver related.

The guide has changed under the beta, including the location of the files. This means that the old method of Bladerunner + guide reader doesn't work at the moment.

DVB-T will only read the EIT stream ie now showing and next program, as thats all thats broadcast.

Remember anything you do now to make the guide work may be a wasted effort. Its a beta, and things including file format, location etc are subject to change without notice. Who knows they may even decide to support our NZ specific MHEG, although I'm not holding my breath on that one.

Cheers Rusty, I'll fire up the old DVB-S card.
Although I can see my next chanllenge biung, use the EPG from the DVB-S card but use and record the picture from the DVB-T card... in order to get the HD picture.
I did notice a setting on the channel where I could change the source so there maybe a way yet.

You can't remap channels across tuners using the "standard" interface ie DVB-S guide onto a DVB-T channel - already tried that.

You can map an external source ie downloaded guide to any other channel - but without Bladerunner working this is also in the too hard pile at the moment.

I was going to have a play with the new guide files to see if you could do it - but its probably a waste of time until we get closer to the final release ie the config may change or who knows MHEG might end up working out of the box.

True, just realise that too. As soon as you select a different souce it therfore has a different "broadcaster" to pull the EPG from. Bit of a catch 22.

Hey I've obvsiously missed something with setting up DVB-S. I've got it going a treat in GBPVR so I know the signal is good. I've selected NZ and postcode 6021 in VMC, but the scan resturns nothing. Do I have to set the channels manually with freqs etc and if so what are they ;-)

The signal is good cause I have GBPVR running. I close GBPVR and all the processes/service to make sure VMC has full rights to the card.

I then do a full transponder scan, but no chanels are found

For DVB-S

Select NZ Postcode 0000

Use a Single LNB (with either 11300 or 10750 depending on LNB)

Manual Scan the following freq ie dont use fulll transponder scan (its not mapped correctly at the moment for D1 - only has Ozzie channels plus a few Sky channels - which is kinda interesting.,,):

Sometimes you may need to reboot after the initial setup and re-run the channel scan only (it misses the scan first time round - but this is intermittent), it should always pick up the channels second time around.

Thats about it.

Thanks Rusty,

Got all channels found on DVB-S. However I have a Nova-S which has a dual tuner (from meory, it's been a while since I used it) but Vista is only picking up and using one.

Also, the EPG is OK when I arrow up and down while watching live TV, but is out of wack in the guide, like it is hours behind, saying stickyTV is on at 9.30pm and the likes.

Any sugestions?

Nova-s is single tuner.
