I have recently got a Freeview satellite decoder, an S7090, which seems to work pretty well out of the box with the Sky dish I’ve got on my roof. All the freeview channels have auto-configured and this all works.

Is it possible with this set-up to also tune into BVN. According to the website their config parameters are:

Satellite: Optus D2
Transponder: 7
Position: 152 degrees east
Frequency: 12.644 GHz
Polarisation: Vertical
Symbol Rate: 22.500
System: DVB-S FEC 3/4

I’ve had a bit of a play with the Satellite Scan menu on the S7090 and it lists a carrier at those settings (Carrier11_S3) but 0 services against it and Strength and Quality both read 0%

Is there anything I can do to make this work without significant hardware work/investment? (I’m in Wellington if that makes any difference.)

Did Eric Clapton really think she looked wonderful...or was it after the 15th outfit she tried on and he just wanted to get to the party and get a drink?

Since you say you are getting the Freeview channels OK, your dish is pointing at Optus D1, not Optus D2, which is where you say the service you want to receive is being beamed from. That being the case, the minimum you'd need would be another LNB on an offset arm, and some way of switching LNBs, like a Diseqc switch. Other options would include a second dish, or a movable one.

Thank you, that explains it nicely. Don't think I'll bother with it in that case, the content is not worthwhile enough for me.

Hi, I have a 65 cm dish, with dual LNB for Optus D1 and the other for Optus D2. I receive BVN through Optus D2 without problems, Sky programs come through as scrambled on Optus D1 since I am not subscriber to Sky. Reception is great here in Auckland. Cheers.
