Have just set up this new telly, gets most of the freeview channels, the guide works properly, but I am not getting Prime, Maori TV (and maybe one or two others).

Have tried manually adding the channels but I can't figure out what to put in!!

These are my options.

Can anyone help me?

P.S. extra for experts - it doesnt want to pick up an IP address from Wifi, no phones or computer have had this issue - do I need to do anything in particular?

Where in the country are you?

Have you checked the DNS settings for the TV? Can you assign it a fixed IP address by MAC address in your router? Have you exceeded the number of DHCP leases set up in your router?

Hi,

where abouts in the country are you, and which transmitter are you pointing at?

Have you had freeview (and all 3 muxes) working before correctly where the new tv is?

You appear to be missing the Kordia MUX (contains Prime, Maori, and other dregs)

From those frequencies I guess you are in Auckland and are getting Freeview from the skytower,
you should find a way to add channel 40 (626Mhz)

The stuff on channel 50 will be the Asian bouquet

RE the Wifi, I like the sound of the MAC address, I will try that. Never tried it tho - can I add the MAC address to the router to give the TV a specific fixed local IP, then just add the IP address to the TV manually?

Exactly. It will depend a bit on your specific router settings (for example, my TP-Link TD-W8960N allows you to reserve a specific IP address for a specified MAC address). It's probably the quickest way to sort out any IP address conflict issues.

I would venture that there is another issue if your TV is not getting an IP address assigned over DHCP - are you sure you have entered your WPA key etc. correctly to connect it to your Wireless?

I see it is a serires 5 - you do actually have the WiFi adaptor don't you? (pretty sure S5 Sammies do not have WiFi built in).

Wifi is built in, I just tried adding it to my iphone hotspot - it connects but has no internet access... I will have to have a fiddle with the settings after work.

Regarding the Prime/Maori TV issue, I can not add channel 40. It appears to me as though we are not getting a signal for that transponder - I had understood with DVB-T that if we get one channel we get them all. I guess I am wrong. I suspect my best bet is to talk to the building manager about getting someone to check the TV Aerial?

Freeview has 3 muxes underneth it, with Skytower in Auckland broadcasting the Kordia mux off DTV40. This mux has Prime, MTS, Choice etc. If you have an in building aerial system, it would be good to check. Check with some neighbours and see if they get Freeview ok if you can?

To aid the fault finding, try a manual tune into CH40 and see if the TV's signal metering shows anything. Also if you have any local RF sources in your aerial cabling ie VCR's, Xboxes, remove then and attaempt a retune and see what happens.

If you get one channel, it means you will likely receive them all, but as you are part of a distributed system in a building, that changes things alot,

I would first bang on a neighbour's door and see if they get Prime on freeview, to try and isolate whether it is a building wide matter to chase up with the building manager.... or just your set up....

Yeah, with the 3 muxes being on different frequencies there's no guaranteeing that because you can get one or two that you will get all 3. Normally yes, but if your aerial is borderline, then one might not be strong enough to get a lock. This has happened a bit lately across the areas where the muxes have been rearranged to different frequencies.

As mentioned by the guys above, being in an apartment puts quite the unknown element into the mix too. Often aerial systems used filters to completely block non required frequency bands prior to amplification and distribution throughout a complex. These will need to be reassessed with the move to freeview and eventual switch off of the analogue transmissions. In some cases the older gear is actively blocking the frequency range that now holds one or more of the freeview muxes.

An alternative that might work is some temporary aerial of your own, be it a piece of wire or something more elegant. If you can get the TV to lock on that, then it's definitely a building supply issue, either to your location only or through out the building.
