I havent kept up with the play of Freeview etc much, never got into the tech side of it etc (got too many other things to worry about :) ),  bought a couple of Digistar DVBS units few years back and been happy....  but the other night the wife pointed something out to me - we get a huge number of adverts for the South Island - we're in Auckland (according to the council at least).

I dont watch a lot of "live" TV so never really took notice of what the adverts were as Id skip through them.

Have I got a setting somewhere thats picking up the regional broadcast for the South Island ?

Probably something simple I should know but better I ask than stuff the whole thing up and have the wife yelling at me for making her miss something.. :)

Yip Freeview DVB-S runs multiple regional streams for TV1, you're clearly tuned to the wrong one.

Apparently TV3 are also doing this as well which is the reason for dumping C4.

This was the list, expect it's still the same.
You'll have to take a look at the details for the channel you're actually using, and often these specifics are buried a bit deeper in the menus than the basic info screen.

TV ONE Auckland + All FTA VPID 515 APID 653
TV ONE Waikato - VPID 519 APID 657
TV ONE Wellington + Central - VPID 513 APID 651
TV ONE Christchurch + Dunedin - VPID 517 APID 655
