Does anyone know if there is an equivalent mySky HD set top box for freeview? I previously had mySky but did not watch it enough to justify the monthly rental so switched to freeview and bought, based on reviews and recommendations a DishTV S7090PVR.  Maybe it is just my freeview unit but having used it for a couple months I am ready to throw it out the window. It frequently locks up, is slow to change channels, and misses recordings (and yes I have upgraded to the latest firmware). Sometimes when changing channels ‘please wait’ appears on screen and it sits there for literally 3-4min before changing, usually in frustration I’ll press the channel button a dozen times and when it finally wakes up I end up on some random channel. If I power cycle the unit it is initially quite responsive but after a period of (and after recording starts) it becomes unresponsive. By comparison (I realise the mysky unit is a better quality and more expensive unit) the mysky set top box is bullet proof, fast, never failed, and so easy to use. I would be willing to pay top dollar for a freeview unit of equivalent quality.

my s7090 works okay. slow changing channels but no slower than any freeview approved unit.  The one I like best and has been most reliable of all for me has been the Ultraplus X-9200hD. The only thing doesnt work for me is youtube.  Others have had problems with some models and condemn the lot.  Others rave over the vu duo unit but they seem rare as hens teeth.  For me ease of use and reliability with a satellite unit, the ultraplus is for me

HTPC Intel Pentium G3258 cpu, Gigabyte H97n-wifi motherboard, , 8GB DDR3 ram, onboard  graphics. Hauppuage HVR 5500 tuner,  Silverstone LC16M case, Windows 10 pro 64 bit using Nextpvr and Kodi

Maybe something like an Ultra Plus model from Freeview Shop may be more reliable?

Have you considered asking for a replacement under warranty or CGA?

It seems to me that most of the cheaper Satellite PVRs are not very reliable. Plenty of complaints about them on Geekzone.

Presumably you are not in a Freeview HD area and need satellite? Otherwise a Panasonic Freeview recorder would be the answer. They are totally reliable.

Yes that Ultra plus model may be an option, I'll go have a look at one. I have emailed DishTV today with the issues I'm having and will probably return the unit.

Looked at the Panasonic unit but yes unfortunately I'm in a satellite only area (although I may just move to a UHF area if it means a better unit Wink )
