Is anyone else getting patchy Freeview reception in Wellington? I'm in Te Aro (Tory Street) and the reception has been breaking up often since the windy day we had on Saturday.

I live in an apartment building and my immediate neighbours all get their TV through the Sky dish. I'm the only resident with poor man's TV on my floor, it seems.

Before I nag our building manager to re-align the Freeview aerial, I'm just wondering if it's a more widespread problem affecting other people in Wellington.

Thanks, would the Te Aro area be getting terrestrial Freeview reception off the Mt Kaukau transmitter as well? Is there a transmitter on Mt Victoria?

For terrestrial transmission point to Kaukau, there is no Freeview transmitters on Victoria.

Baxters Knob would a no go for Tory Street, Fitzherbert would be marginal depending what level the apartment is and what is impeding line of sight even if line of sight is possible. The best possibility is Kaukau but central city wellington is never going to be easy with Hills and High risers.

Out of interest, what is transmitted from Mount Vic? Does anyone know?

A quick search turns up a lot of VHF and UHF land mobile licences, along with some links for both Broadcasters and cell co's.

If you want an exact list, go to the register of radio frequencies and carry out an "area search" for BQ31 504 268, you can see what is up at the site
