Hi all,
ive been struggling with a free view install at my neighbours house

i put up a match master phased aray antenna and a aerial box and he got freeview but it dropped after 2 days. it is a bad signal area so i put pole extension re adjusted antenna, installed an amplifier, and re ran the coax in rj59. still no joy.

so yesterday i installed a dish took my time to get it right adjusted dish, elevation, lmb angle several times to get it exactly where i want it using my iphone compass and a dish finder app.

im pretty happy with the dish set the new dish tv sat box up and no signal no quality. ive changed the lo frequency to every posible setting the lnb power is on the 22hz thing is off.

im frustrated, i install freeview probally every 2 weeks and have never had so much drama, im not a freeveiw ninja but part of my job is to get it going for my customers

i cant get to the bottom of it. spent 5 hours there yesterday and countless efforts in last 3 weeks trying.

please help me internet folks

A couple of comments

1) Use RG6 cable not RG59

2) The compass on an iPhone will not be anywhere near good enough to align a sat dish. It will get it in the right basic direction, but will need to be fine tuned using a satellite meter - even the signal strength meter in an STB will do the trick in a pinch. Move the azimuth back and forwards until you get a signal, adjust elevation then skew to peak.

3) Don't randomly try LO frequencies - it will be written on the LNB what it's frequency is.

yes sorry installed rj6.

and did try the lnb lo freq on stb but no joy so tryed everything else.

i think tomorrow im guna bite the bullet and buy that $500 signal finder and biff my $cheap 1.

The other common issue is poorly installed F connectors - preferably use a decent quality linear compression fitting.

yup only use sky style compression f types.

slightly of topic went to a job where previous sparky had used strip conectors behind the outlet to connect the coax. and told customer the signal wasn't strong enough to run 2 tvs!!!! fixed buy using proper ftypes.

its wrecking my head that this particular install wont work ive never struggled this much before
