Hello,

I have recently purchased a second hand Vu+Duo.

To date I have been unable to tune in the NZ freeview channels.

I need help with the settings.

My satellite dish and TV work fine with my old decoder.

I have tried manually inputting what I believe to be the correct satellite and frequency settings but a scan does not find any channels.

If I do an open scan it comes up with approx. 70 overseas channels - none of which can be viewed.

Thanks,

Mike

Start by posting the settings you have entered, what dish/LNB you are using,  what channels you are seeing, and what image (firmware) is installed.

Like Runningman said it most likely will be your LNB settings. most common are 10750 or 11300. so if its one try the other,

if not its up on the roof to check the LNB itself

Hello,

Yes I have tried both of those settings and it scans no channels.

I have a 90cm dish. Sticker has fallen off the LNB but my old decoder is set to 10750.

And please supply the transponder frequencies, symbol rate, FEC and any other parameters you're using.

Would someone please be able to tell me which settings I should be using instead of me trying to remember all the different versions I have used.

Both of what settings? 10750 and 11300

Post a couple of screenshots may be easiest. I am typing from my PC and cannot take a screenshot of my TV? I would need to use a camera. I have reconnected my old decoder so that her indoors can still watch the telly in the interim.

Thanks,

Mike

Shouldn't it be able to do an automatic scan if told to look at Optus D1 at 160° anyway?

Assuming (now that's bad!) that you have the Vu+ connected to your network, then point a web browser at the IP address of the Vu+ - this should give you the webif which you can use to take a screenshot. The LNB settings page would be good to see.

There are in the order of a 1000 settings you can change in these - there's a bit more to it that someone just telling you the settings. It's not clear yet what you may have wrong. The likely things are:

1) LNB settings misconfigured - either frequencies wrong, or against the wrong satellite, so it has the wrong transponder list.

2) Box is imaged with an (European) image that doesn't have NZ visible satellites in the satellites.xml file so it doesn't have a transponder list for Optus D1.

If you can start by telling us what firmware is installed, that would be useful. Menu -> Information from the remote control should point you in the right direction.

Given it's second hand, we have no idea what state the box is in that you purchased. It could have factory firmware from 5 years ago and have been reset, in which case there's a bit of effort to get it going, alternatively, it might have a current OpenPLi or similar image and already be configured for NZ.

The other piece of info is how the tuners are physically connected - do you have a cable from the dish going to each tuner separately, or just into one tuner?

@MickeyT did you establish what firmware it's running?

Sorry I have not replied for a while. I have not had a chance to try out the suggestions or gather more info. I appreciate your input. Thanks,

Mike

No worries - even if you can get the firmware version that would be useful - will point to whether it's generally set up for NZ, or whether there's a bit of work to be done...

settingsOK. I have had a look again.

I have uploaded a couple of images but I am unsure if they are showing?Firmware

Firmware - Image    Openpli 4

I have the dish feed connected to LNB2.

Tuner settings:

I have Tuner A configured to loop through to A ....connected to tunner B

configuration mode: simple = single dish with 1 LNB

mode: single = single dish with 1 LNB.

There is something wrong somewhere as on one of the screens for performing a scan it shows the signal strength as 0.

As mentioned earlier the dish and cable work fine at 10750 with my old Chinese decoder.

Thanks, Mike

Tuner A refers to LNB1. Connect cable to LNB1.
