Especially when they say things like "right now using existing Digital Terrestrial Technology (DTT), which we believe is the most reliable option when delivering 4K content".

Sorry mate, my fibre connection is a whole lot more reliable than a shaky rod on my roof - of which we don't even have on our place!

Looked for Trails from the top of the Skytower today. But couldn't see any!
Having just bought a UHD TV I guess it won't be compatible with any new broadcast standard.

I don't think so. If Vodafone and Vocus get their way, customers of those ISPs won't be using Chorus UFB connections. If you are in the greater Waikato, Christchurch or Northland, Chorus isn't the default UFB provider. If you're house doesn't have a UFB connection (which still is quite a lot of urban places), no 4K love from fibre. At least for the foreseeable future, DVB-T and any potential multicast over fibre will co-exist IMO. And Chorus have not announced that they will be doing freeview over UFB, they are only doing trials at the moment.

A lot of TV's out there already have DVB-T tuners supporting both DVB and DVB-T2 standards.

DVB-T2 is used in a lot of countries now and NZ was very close to actually launching with DVB-T2 when it launched Freeview|HD in 2008, and I believe would have been the first country to actually do this. The problem was a lack of STBs or hardware at the time.

Has the article changed? It now says:

State-owned company Kordia will began the demonstration broadcasts from its Waiatarua transmission site overlooking Auckland at 1pm on Freeview channel 201.

I receive the Sky Tower signal. Had a look at my tvheadend setup and the test channel is still reporting a H264 signal. Gutted if I miss out!

FYI Article has been updated to say that it's the Waiatarua transmitter, not the Sky Tower.

Personally, I'd like to see the On-Demand TV Apps support the live Internet streams, as my reception is fairly crappy (in a shadow), but my fibre bandwidth is great!

TVNZ On Demand and ThreeNow provide live streams for all their channels (not the +1 channels). TVNZ support Chromecast of these streams, Mediaworks don't.

Seems they are 10 years behind so 2028 then. If they still exist.

Comes up audio only on my LG TV. And 200 now says invalid service.
