got my DSE freeview HD STB just a while ago and my decoder picks up the following channels:

TV1,2,3,C4,6,7, TVNZ Sports Extra

and they all looks great (some greater than the others)

but:

1. i'm missing the Maori, Parliament (not that i'm really interested in!) and all the radio channels..

2. My TV3 doesn't have Teletext/subtitles at all.

is this normal? I live in Onehunga (Auckland) and i get all the normal UHF channels (e.g. Prime) okay with our UHF antenna.

Thanks a lot

For some reason your box is only picking up 2 of the 3 MUX's and isn't getting the Kordia one which has those channels on it.

Have you tried rescanning for channels?

Yep youve got the two muxs from the low end of the band, Ch29&33 but not the Ch45 mux, do a rescan, if still no luck ponder the performance of your antenna.

thanks for the reply guys

i've tried the automatic rescan and still the same

tried manually scan channel 45.  noticed it receives some signal.. but can't find those missing TV/radio channels. From the display i can see the signal stength jumps around 60-80% mark then 0 for half a second or so and back to 60-80%..

I live in a big complex in Onehunga with 50+ units. Our antenna have amplified reticulation for UHF and SKY

so should i ask the body corp to get someone to look at our antenna? or is it something else? is there something i can try/set on my STB to try manually get those missing channels?

oh and is it normal that i have no teletext and subtitles for the TV3 programmes?

It sounds like you've got an identical problem to several other posts on here recently - multi unit dwellings with a single aerial and amplified splitter. It's very likely that ch45 is being blocked so you're not going to have much luck until somebody reconfigures the system.

This thread may be of interest http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?ForumId=83&TopicId=24532 if you can't get anybody to look at it one of these internal aerials may be of use.

Thanks for the reply guys. The link (to the DSE website) is not working as it just brings me to the front page not the actual product page. So maybe someone can kindly tell me the name/price of the antenna that i need?

This is the product yuu want here

http://www.dse.co.nz/cgi-bin/dse.storefront/en/product/L4016

Just FYI for anbody else following this thead if you want to link to a DSE product then the URL when you are viewing a product won't work as it embeds a unique user code into the URL. You need to format it like this for it to work.

Personally if you can see Waitarua Tx from your apartment, then you would probably get by with just a unpowered one, like L4017, but I recommend you rip the VHF bits off (telescopic parts of either L4016 or L4017). DSE have a good return policy, although dont rip the VHF bits off till you are happy.

Thanks for the tips.

any idea whether the Kordia mux will have more TV channels added to it in the near future?

i have almost zero interested in the TV/radio channels (the one i'm missing) that are broadcast from the Korida mux right now so wondering how other channels will i be missing in the near future if i can't receive their channels.

oh and is it normal that i don't have any Teletext/subtitle on TV3? (seems to be from what i've read here but just want to confirm)

No idea if they are going to add anything soon, so for now you probably have all you need. And yes teletext seems missing on TV3.

Thanks for the reply.

I've just talked to our property manager. He's very helpful and he's going to find someone to have a look at our antenna system.  So for now, i'm not going to get the indoor antenna and I'll report back when i hear some updates from them.
