Was doing some test recording on TV2 and decided to record Stargate. I shared a fragment of the capture with somebody overseas who was jealous we had HD Stargate (not from the US to be sure). I said I don't think it's HD - just upscaled SD but the comment was it was pretty good.

What do folks think?

I saw it last Saturday will there was a down time on the Olympics and yes it did indeed look good.  Can't say for sure one way or the other as to whether it was HD or not but with upscaling  it's quite often hard to tall HD from SD originals..

I just looked at it again on a 56" TV. Looks pretty good and I think sharper than the NCIS on TV3 last night (that looks like it's filmed through a stocking!). Pity about the AAC audio though

Are you watching on an STB or via a PC?

Personally the quality of the HE-AACv2 audio on TV2 DVB-T is close to the MP2 audio on DVB-S. Ok so it isn't 5.1 but it isn't that bad as long as your decoder has full HE-AACv2 support.

I think all the HD shows on TV1 and TV2 have a little "HD" symbol top left.  Not sure about TV3.

Both of tonights TVNZ shows in HD had an additional logo.

They also have the audio type next to the HD logo indicating 5.1 or regular stereo.

Hi there,

Big Stargate SG-1 fan here.   I'm not 100% about the stuff we're getting on TV2 - as I don't always catch it (have all ten seasons of the show on DVD)... but I know that the last season (and maybe the last few seasons) were filmed in HD... you get all that kind of information thru the audio commentaries on the DVDs.

So yeah, wouldn't surprise me if TV2 were showing the HD stuff.

I'll have to look out at the beginning of the next episode on Saturday - to see if the HD icon is there.

I've just bought a Freeview box, but am having problems recording - looking for help!!!

Smiles,
CarterMackenzie
