I've had a quick look around the forums and haven't found anything that seems to relate to my problem, so apoligies if I have missed an answer.

I'm at a complete loss with TV cards and Freeview but have installed the card into a self built computer (which I was a complete n00b at building and took some time)

I have just installed my hauppage WinTV HVR 2200 after a bit of drama.

Now I am trying to work out how to scan for channels I'm having a few problems.

The Analouge scan doesn't start, it just sits at 0% - I assume I will need analouge if I want to watch Prime TV since it is not on the freeview platform.

Digital scan, when I put my UHF bunny ears in the right place, will find 5 TVNZ channels (1,2 family, news and sports extra) but won't find TV3 or C4 - will I need to fiddle with the bunny ears and keep rescanning till I get a position that works or is there something else I need to do? I tried a shift of the ears but came up with 0 channels so thought I'd ask here.

Radio channels also won't scan, but i'm not worried about getting the radio working.

PowerCinema came bundled with the tv card, if there is a better free to download program I would be happy to install something different. I don't really want to buy new software unless this bundled one is actually just rubbish.

So is this probelm fixable in powercinema or should I scrap it and get some different software?

I had to apply this Hauppauge reg hack to get analog tuning operating on the HVR2200

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\hcw89\InstanceFallback]
"hcwRawEnabled"=dword:00000001

copy into notepad, save as 2200_RawEnabled_Yes.reg, and right click file to merge into registry (backup first)

That will get Power Cinema 5.1 HD ed with AAC+ scanning analog, BUT Power Cinema has a bug were it will lock up when the scan reaches 100%.
The Solution to the bug is wait until P.C. has scanned the channels you want, in my case up to Prime, and cancel the scan before it reaches 100%. Don't worry P.C. still saves the found channels, repeat for 2nd tuner. Then deselect the unwanted channels/duplicates on the channel list page.

Swapping between analog and digital is odd, you have to change the signal source down at the bottom of the veiwing screen.
Setting up manual recordings is easier, but I found no way to get EPG into the app.
I gave up on P.C. and moved back to GBpvr.

I'm using PowerCinema for Freeview Terrestrial.

For Prime I just use Win TV. I'm using Win-TV 4.6b, download.
I un-ticked all the other channels detected except Prime.
Had no luck with Win-TV 3.3 on the supplied CD.

edit. I'm using Vista 86
