I vaguely recall reading somewhere that TV3 were to bring two new channels to Freeview as part of their agreement. Does anyone know about this?

That was my understanding, as well. And one of those channels was going to use Bathurst as its premier according to an article written by a NZPCWorld journalist earlier this year. Scott Bartley, I think as I cannot locate the specific magazine at present.

It also stated that as part of their agreement with Freeview, the channels were required to broadcast within a certain time after their initial Freeview broadcasting. But as to when, who knows.

Similar to TVNZ, Mediaworks have to launch a new channel within the 1st year of Freeview being up and running. So the new channel has to be up by the start of April to keep its side of the deal of the injection of Goverment Cash. There are plans and the Herald had an interesting article about what the content may be. If I find a link, I'll post it.
