Hi there, we are trying to set up our Freeview box and want to be able to record the signal on our Video recorder.  The setup we currently have is the connection from the satellite is screwed into the Freeview STB. The signal then goes from Freeview to the TV via a scart cable and also to the DVDR via a RF cable.  The signal then goes from the DVDR to the Video recorder and then the second TV all via RF connections. We can view the Freeview channels on the second TV, but I can't tune the Video recorder into the Freeview channels.

From what I understand our problem is that the RF signal is not being modulated by either the Freeview STB or the DVDR.  So would I be right in thinking that we need an RF modulator and where do I put it (I've got a few suggestions, but they probably won't work too well...) Frown

what brand receiver is it
if you are using rf youi wont need a modulator
only the accredited STBs dont have a modulator
Can you tune the DVDR in to Freeview
All I can suggest is put your STB on a different output channel
or run AV leads to your VCR

I've never worked with freeview satellite before but i'm interested in this problem. First thing that came to mind was the signal would have to be analog for the vcr to record it?

The Freeview STB is branded ONEB One Step Ahead and the model number is WAV-3010S and is not accredited.

I'm a bit confused with your comment that if I am using rf I won't need a modulator - how do you know and if that is the case then why do RF modulators even exist?  I am struggling with the technology, so please be gentle... anything new I can learn is all good though.

As of this morning, I successfully tuned the DVDR into Freeview, but haven't had any success recording it yet - am about to consult that manual now...

I'm not aware of having any control over what output channel the STB uses...?  You just plug it in and away it goes.

By AV leads - do you mean composite?
