i downloaded the TV pack needed to allow DVB-S in Windows Media Centre (Vista), but i end up with around 200 channels, much are blank, and repeated channels (reserved, tv1 tv2 etc).  How do I delete channels? Or can I make up a satelite file for MC and just get the Freeview channels scanned?

You can't delete them as such, the database is locked in the TV Pack.

Tip of the day:

When selecting your satellite don't select Optus D1, use PALAPA instead.  Using Optus D1 just fills up the database with 70 channels of Aussie junk, and about 10 or so locked Sky channels, which you don't use.  PALAPA only generates 2 channels of junk.

Make sure you don't scan the entire salellite.

Do the manual scan as normal and scan 12483 and 12456.

You still have to get rid of the TVNZ reserved channels etc, but you should only have 20 or so channels to deal with rather than 200.

You can generate a custom D1 Satellite config, but you need to add it back in mid way through the MCE setup, which is real messy.  The above trick should generate the same results with less work.
