Hi I'm in the UK and I've got a hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II (23xxx) card in my computer (Dell Dimention 9200,2GB RAM running Windows XP Media Centre 2002) I am wondering whether this card is compatible with freeview and if it is how do I get it to work!?! 've currently got my computer hooked up to a very basic aerial and am getting (if a bit fuzzy due to the aerial quality) all the terrestrial channels but have no idea if this card is compatible with freeview which I want to receive or to be honest how to even start setting it us?! I've got an old Matsui DTR2 set-top box but it doesn't seem to be recognised, but again I could be doing this wrong!! Has anyone got a very basic idiot-proof step by step how-to guide on getting freeview to work in WMCE XP? I'm aware that I MIGHT have to buy new hardware and am a bit poor so if I do have to buy new stuff, are there any that wont cost me a fortune? I.E. a new tv tuner card UNDER £40? Thanks for your help Nicole

In the UK Freeview is techincally the digitial transmission so you're talking about recieving DVB-T in your media center -right?

From memory, XP MCE doesnt support DVB-T. That didnt come along until vista.

Does your tuner support DVB-T?  If so, I'd probably reccommend that you download Win7 RC and install that and try it out. (i.e. try the latest version of media center)

The only way to get DVB-T into XP MCE would be via set top box (STB). The STB would receive the DVB-T and then output via RCA cables into the tuner card on your PC.

Then you'd plug in your IR blaster from your PC and let it blast IR codes to the STB, so the PC could change channels.

It would be very similar to that documented in http://digitalmediaphile.com/index.php/2009/04/17/setup-a-comcast-dta-with-mce/
