I have just purchased a Hauppauge Nova-S-Plus card for use in a Linux box. I have had no experience with Linux, but I doubt I will have any luck getting the card to work on my OpenBSD box. So. I'm about to take the leap.

In the meantime, I am impatient and simply must see something working. I have got only so far on my Windows box. Sound, but no picture.

Here is the story to date:

Win XP SP2
Nova-S-Plus card with WinTV2000 installed
Channels detected during the scan (settings courtesy of information in the forum - thank you)
Meters showing almost 100% strength and 100% quality

Fistly I had no sound either, but I press the "Tune" button in the Suite Manager - Channels page. Can anyone tell me what that does? Now I have sound for whichever channel I choose. But no picture

Can anyone suggest what I might do to get a picture as well?

Thanks.

the wintv app is a bit crappy and difficult to use.  you could try downloading gbpvr, mediaportal or other HTPC application instead - they are compatible with the nova-s.  i wrote a blog post on setting up the old version of mediaportal here: http://www.geekzone.co.nz/regs I'm using twin nova-s in win7 MCE.  For Linux support try LinuxMCE or MythTV both of which support the Nova-S cards.

Installation difficulty 2/10. Configuration difficulty 5/10 - but only because the whole DVB technology is new to me. If I did it again: 2/10.

I haven't got the remote control working yet. But I am thinking it might be a hardware issue.
