It looks like the BBC is wanting to encrypt the EPG data on the UK version of Freeview HD. They're worried that people will be able to do usefull things with their HD content, like record it. Gasp!

My understanding is their DVB-T2 will only use MHEG5 for the EPG (no EIT) so it will be quite easy to do it.

One of the articles I read indicated they were looking at encrypting part of the DVB Program tables which would restrict tuning to approved hardware. it will be interesting to see how quickly the geek crack the system
