I was looking through the listener for last week and had to look really hard to find ANY programs that were marked as HD. What made me look was that I accidentally flicked over "The Cult" on TV2 - havent watched it but I would have probably liked it - anyway - it had the HD logo and there was a bit showing a countryside setting - it looked stunning - really popped off the screen. I then realised that I havent seen that logo on anything in prime time for ages - from memory both 2 and 3 used to show that logo when applicable.

I think when I flicked through the listener the only things I found were a couple of US cops shows on repeat about 11pm and one movie. There was virtually nothing. I know that a couple of the distributors wanted to charge more for the HD versions of their programs. I take it we (NZ) wont pay for it.

So we now only get HD content if someone makes a NZ on Air assisted program that they film in HD?

Gone nowhere.

There was never a great deal to begin with.

There's a smattering on TVNZ.

The movie Cars looked superb a couple of weekends ago, despite being cut-down to fit the 1.78 palette and not having sound to match the visuals.

Quite a bit more HD on TV3 which usually has at least a couple of shows in HD during prime time.

I haven't bought The Listener in nearly a decade, maybe their listings are incompete ?

Not much has changed since this topic was discussed a month ago: What Freeview|HD programmes are in HD and/or DD 5.1? Quite a few current programmes are listed in that thread.

Outragous Fortune

This can't have been in HD, since they only started filming in HD for the sixth season, which hasn't aired yet.

Interesting that Pushing daisies was a HD promo on the FV demo Chanel but only shown in SD on TVNZ..

A real shame, as Pushing Daisies would look awesome in HD!

Shark is also broadcast in HD on TV3 on Fridays. It's not a "Primetime" broadcast, but if you have a PVR that doesn't really matter.

Watching cambell live now which is the same studio and its certainly not HD - just SD with excessive edge enhancement - look at that giant halo around the people.

Its one of the worst looking attempts at upscaling I have seen.

correct.  Next season.  There was all that drama a while back about them bringing in an Aussie production crew to do it.

They are leasing cameras from an AU company, but the production team are still SPP from NZ. No one in NZ could supply enough equipment at a competitive price.

Great to hear it is going HD though. Shame Season 5 wasn't shot in HD as well.
