I have a DIGISTAR 811U and am having problems with the USB connecting to any HDD or even Memory stick. Can anybody give me some advice to what may be the problem?

I am not completely certain with the model you have but IIRC the 810 required the USB device to be formatted as FAT32. It may be worth checking to see if this is the case with your machine and if so you could try re-formatting one of your drives to ensure it is correct.

Ive got the 811 as well - what error is it giving you ?
As Phaedrus said, the drive has to be formatted as FAT32 or else the unit wont see it.
Occasionally my 811 gives me an error saying it cant find the drive, I just remove the drive, power off the 811 and turn back on and try again and works 99% of the time.

I had an idea I'd seen something about a firmware upgrade for these, seems there is, along with a lengthy thread here:

http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=83&topicid=31460&page_no=2

If your drive is FAT32 & XPD's fix doesn't work this upgrade may be worth a crack (although it'd obviously need to see a drive to work!). I also read somewhere else that there was a limit on the box 'seeing' larger partiition sizes but there could have been other reasons for that.

Cheers, P.

Yup, thats what mine does on occasion :) But using the fix I mentioned, seems to go away for quite some time. Dosent seem to matter what drive I plug in.
