Hi,

I want to organise an installer to go to my Dad's house in Christchurch to supply and install an aerial to his roof so he can pickup freeview channels on a freeview ready (built-in tuner) TV, and also supply a freeview STB for another TV in another room.

He's terminally ill, and its just something I want to do for him in his last year. I'm not seeking any handouts, so will pay, just looking for a reputable firm that won't charge me an arm and a leg.

I'm also in Brisbane, so will need to pay via credit card or I can arrange a direct deposit if necessary.

Thanks.

Have you checked the Freeview coverage to make sure he can get Freeview|HD? Christchurch is very flat but still be a idea to confirm.

Unfortunately I am guessing with the quake that installers like all service people are absolutely run off their feet.

Thanks, checked all appears OK.

I located a crowd called Aerial & Sallelite Installations: http://aasi.co.nz/front/

Waiting to get a firm quote, but they sound promising.

Why are STB's so expensive in NZ? Are the freeview boxes from DSE in Oz compatible with the STB's in NZ? Like this one from DSE: http://www.dse.com.au/cgi-bin/dse.storefront/4ca5059000c49eaa273fc0a87e0106b7/Product/View/GH5912

Short answer, no. None of the Aussie boxes work here.

because they have MPEG4 rather than MPEG2 tuners in them.  You an make an MPEG2 tuner for next to nothing these days, but there isn't the mass market for MPEG4 tuners yet.
