Does anyone have the MediaPortal settings in TV Server for the SBS channels?

  • Frequency - ? (khz)

  • Symbol Rate - ?

  • Polarisation - ?

  • Modulation - ?

  • Low (LOF1) - ?

  • High (LOF2) - ?

  • Switch (LNBSW) - ? Mhz

I just set it to Optus D1 and set the following.

LOF1 10750
LOF2 11300
switch 0

Using a sky installed dish.

It will scan and pick up sky, freeview and SBS

If someone could post a screenshot of their settings that shows all that I listed in my initial post, I would be most grateful, thank you.

So much depends on your setup. It is not just a matter of copying someone else's settings!

Like xarqi said, a good start is (using the MediaPortal terms):

  • Frequency - 12648000 kHz

  • Symbol Rate - 12600

  • Polarisation - LinearV

  • Modulation - Not Defined (or Qpsk)

  • The other settings depend on what kind of LNB you have. Common settings are:

  • Low (LOF1) - 9750 MHz

  • High (LOF2) - 10600 MHz

  • Switch (LNBSW) - 11700 Mhz

  • OR

  • Low (LOF1) - 10750 MHz

  • High (LOF2) - 10750 MHz

  • Switch (LNBSW) - 12750 Mhz

  • OR

  • Low (LOF1) - 11300 MHz

  • High (LOF2) - 11300 MHz

  • Switch (LNBSW) - 12750 Mhz

  • You should use the same settings for this as you use to get Freeview/Sky...

Yeah remember you can't have any other device using the same lnb for freeview either.
The H polarity will overide the Vertical that SBS is on.
(this includes a sky box, even on standby from memory.)

Thanks fellas for the posts, I have tried all the settings, I get Freeview no problem, just no SBS, must be the dish and or the LNB I'm using? No signal on scans for SBS, full signal strength on Freeview.

    What size dish?
SBS is a little weaker than Freeview. I've got a 90cm and one box I tried couldn't get SBS reliably, although it could find it; three others had no problems.

What LNB? I guess it's possible it only receives a single polarity, no matter what signals you send up the cable.

You did note Jaxson's post about competition among boxes for switching?
Without a multiswitch in the middle, a Sky box (or any other box set to H pol) will hold the connected LNB on H pol despite another requesting V pol.

Its a little weird to be honest, because a couple of months ago I had a pretty good signal on SBS, but it increasingly got worse until one day where I just ditched the SBS channels because I was sick of the degrading quality.
Just this week I decided to do another scan to see if there had been any improvement since I last tried it, and now there is no signal whatsoever.

    Excellent - a new datum!
Check your cabling - look for any corrosion or places where water may have entered. You could try tweaking your skew angle in case something has shifted.
