There are few models of TV such as the panasonic THL42D25 that allow recording to USB hard drives. According to the manual this can be while you watch, or scheduled via the EPG.

Has anyone tried the Panasonic THL42D25 or any other TV with PVR functions?

I've found it to be severely limited.
In a nutshell, it's only good for live pause in my books as the recording process actually locks you down to watching the show you're recording.
You simply can't record one free to air channel, and watch another.
The drive is also formatted when you assign it to the TV, and you cannot watch the recordings back on another TV (even the same model) yet alone another computer.
You can start recording, then flick the TV off (onto standby) and continue recording, which is handy if you're going out / going to be.
But yeah...
As I have MySky, I've pretty much 'tried it and discarded it' as an option.

N.B. Never tried recording via the built in EPG.
