Hi, anyone have problems with the TVNZ freeview terrestrial channels in CHCH? Tv3, 4 are all fine. have received all the channels before. Yesterday the signal was very stuttery and today its just gone. Using a HVR-4400 and roofmount aerial.

Maybe an aftershock bumped Sugarloaf?

Not that it helps, but I get my Freeview signals from Sugarloaf and have no problems with signal at the moment. I'm using a TiVo.

Was able to pick up some, but still very stuttery, seems like weak signal issue. The usb tunner isnt even tuning it now. Gonna have to fiddle with the antenna

Could one of the other cables from the splitter have become unplugged from whatever they went to and are now sitting there unterminated?

what do you mean? So if i have a cable plugged into the splitter but nothing connected on the other end then there is a problem?

Yes, it reflects off the other end, and thats one of the worst things for digital.

hmmm ok ill put the splitter back in in the morning and unplug all the unused cables. FWIW these connected cables are terminated into wall sockets

Yeah, if you want to leave them connected then get some terminators for them. I have only seen them available in F connectors tho, not the horribly crap PAL plugs, but have heard of pal ones being available.

A distribution amp at the splitter seemed to sort it out for me here, even tho the signal levels were well above fine without it.

Removed the unconnected cables, didn't help. got it working right now by running a 2 way splitter from the aerial with one going to me and the other end going to the 6 way splitter to the rest of the house. I'll try a new splitter when I get one.
