Okay, i am a complete novice at satellite receiver setups and just bought a Jinya JY001 receiver off TM.

I plugged the receiver into the sky sat dish and each channel came up with no signal (the pervious owner had all freeview channels preset up).

So then i did a blindscan and voila, all of the channels (including scrambled sky channels) appeared.

So i went through adding the freeview ones to my TV list when the screen went black and now the lock light on the receiver is flashing.

I have trying turning it off an on again, unplugging sat dish, pressing every random button i could find and even tried talking nicely to it.

Any ideas what may have happened or what i must have missed?

Would appreciate your thoughts (and apologies again if this is a noob question)

Do you have a manual?
What does a flashing "lock" light signify?

Turn it off, unplug it for 5 minutes, then plug it in and turn it on again - just cycling the power switch on the unit may not completely reset it, especially if it doesn't spend a minute or so "off".

Consider doing a "factory reset" if there is such a function, but keep in mind that you may have to set up things like the LNB frequency again.

Enz Vince.
once u get over the flashin light syndrome and re-scan may pay to do factory reset ist

click FTA where it gives u a choice between all/fta this will get rid of any pay tv
channels
if you wanta get more specific do a tp scan using only Frequency 12.483
"Polarisation HORIZONTAL or H
"Symbol Rate 22500 also
TRANSPONDER Freq = 12456 S/R = 22500 HOR (18V)
if u r a racing fan u can scan 12671 s/r22500 Hor .

if u got a dish bigga than 650mm u will normally be able to receive the SBS channels
12646 Vertical SR: 12600

Good luck fella.

Thanks everyone, i really appreciate your help.

My problem is there doesn't seem to be any logical way to reboot it. There is no little poke hole to reset and no reset button.

Any ideas anyone?

The factory reset is generally in the receiver's menu somewhere and these all differ, obviously, from receiver to receiver.

Unplug it from the mains for a few minutes.
It will reboot itself

I just purchased 1 of them! it works ok... Use settings with the Longitude 160.0 .. You might have to move the cord around to get a signal from dish (the one that plugs into wall). That's what I have to do. Then save the channels, took me a while to get all of it done. But the dam channels wont stay! It loses signal fast! Have you sorted yours yet? I'm guessn we purchased from the same guy lol.

Christ how much are you guys paying for this stuff?

It must be like $5 to be assd with the grief you're getting thrown in for free.

These cheaper units often promise usb recording but everything about them is just nasty. You can get an Ultraplus hdmi pvr unit that records to USB for around $140 for instance and it's fairly well supported.

The Warehouse sells an approved freeview receiver for $80. Turn it on and it will scan all LNB types, grab the channels and give you a nice and clear EPG.  If you can return these units, I'd highly recommend doing yourself a favour and opting for the Warehouse unit.

Hi Folks
New to this posting thing so hope this ends up in the right place
I bought one of these Jinya boxes without the instruction manual
Thought I was being clever as I have set up many dishes and boxes before but this one has me beat.
It comes pre programed but wont get anything. Doing a scan just gets all the sbs chanels (Australia) that's all.
My dish is set up perfectly to recieve all the free channels and works perfectly.
There is no option to change from d1 at all
Also, when editing it wants the longitude which I have never come across before on any other box.
Tried 160.00 and 174 but all I can get is sbs.
Factory reset just puts all the free channels back but it then gets nothing.
Any ideas apart from back on Trademe?
Thanks
Chelle

Are you sure you are not just scanning vertical polarisation? That would find SBS, but not Freeview, as you are seeing.
