Heard a whisper the terrestrial signal was being tested in South Canterbury. Threw up an old prime antenna and presto, receiving a very good signal. Last week only 4 channels were being tested. Now the whole lot show up, but some have no signal like stratos and parliament channel.

That's good to know.
My parents in Timaru have an old TV and will need to upgrade.
Promised to sort out something for them when Freeview HD kicked in.

Testing still, huh?

So much for the end of June. I think honestly we'll see the service go live in all nine JDA contracted regions in the next few weeks and not as previously stated.

Well that was the original plan but it has been said everywhere for a while now that they will be up and running by the time the Rugby World Cup starts so still about 70 days to go.

I was talking to a mate of a mate who did the install for Timaru and he is convinced all channels should be working.
However I still have no signal on the following channels
Stratos
Parliament
Chinees TV
Radio NZ National
Radio NZ Concert
BaseFM

He had suggested I removed my Masthead amp as this may be causing these channels not to lock properly.

Is anyone in Timaru receiving these channels?

I did a few installs yesterday, and no, those channels were not working.

They can be tuned in but have no audio/video - Samsung TVs will report 'service not available'

Also Toddy2006, removing old amplifiers is recommended as they can cause issues with the signal.

Just done a rescan in Timaru and found the above channels you quoted come up as no service on my panasonic tv. They show in the epg but no audio or video when you go to these channels

In Masterton, Freeview HD has just started broadcasting. Stratos and all of those channels are not working either.

That Freeview HD EPG was not made to look good on HD TVs!
