Hi,

Does anyone know if this model works in NZ, in particular can it use the New Zealand MHEG-5 EPG (it says it supports MHEG-5) ?

Details of this model can be found here : http://magictv.com/au/mtv4000pvr.html

The main reason I ask is that I think this model is not freeview approved so lacks a number of the limitations of freeview approved PVRs (see the following paragraph copied from web site above comparing it with the other model which I think is freeview approved)  :
Differences from MTV3700TD include:

  • Magic TV™ EPG and menus throughout

  • Export recordings

  • Expand your recording capacity

  • Edit recordings

  • Skip ads, using the more flexible skip function

Don't know what "Magic TV EPG" means.

Thanks in advance,
Joel.

Got the following reply from Dish TV technical support desk :

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi Joel,

No the MTV4000PVR is not compatible with the New Zealand Freeview system due to differences in the signal transmission used in Australia to New Zealand.

We are in the process of testing a New Zealand version of the MTV3700D which will be available later this year.

Have asked if they having a NZ version of the MTV4000PVR (will post when I get a reply).
