while researching the complex possibilities of recording terrestrial digital TV, i have put together a map showing some of those possibilities.

in case it maybe useful to others traveling this road, i have posted it here.
it is not complete
it deals only with DVB-T
it includes some HTPC possibilities
it has some links to the pithy discussions here on geekzone

suggestions for improvements / corrections welcome

Don't forget the use of wifi and android based devices to control media apps running on the pc.
VLC remote and MP-HC remote for example. Or even remote desktop apps....

Hi Steve,

Wondering why u wouldn't run HDMI from the computer (HTPC) to the amplifier and then run another HDMI from the amp to the digital TV?  Why have separate toslink cable to amp and separate hdmi to the TV?  HDMI will carry video and audio.

Surely the UHF aerial should be going into the computer (with a DVB-T tuner installed) and not straight to the TV?

agreed, threads - i guess the toslink is just another option

and the idea with the uhf aerial is that it could be connected to the htpc and to the tv directly, assuming the TV is uhf capable. then it is possible to watch the TV without the htpc

Nety

Replace modem with router and as already stated make (Computer <-> HDMI <-> TV and Computer <-> Toslink) or (HDMI <-> Amp <-> TV)
