Hi

I am looking for a solution for setting a permanent big screen (32" or bigger) in a meeting room for staff to use Skype or other Video conferencing tools over the internet.

Ideally, I would prefer a one in all (LCD+PC+Video+Microphone) solution, but can also put together elements if it is easier.

I would like to be able the Video and the Microphone to reach 3 to 4 meters where people are sitting without cabling.

Would you have a few scenario / brands/ solutions, I could start looking at?

Probably easiest to just go with a TV that has Skype built in.

We just have a 50" Plasma display with a basic PC connected using a Logitech 9000 Pro camera - the camera has excellent quality and the microphone is quite sensitive - users on the other end have been able to see and hear everyone around the meeting table fine :)

Yes a little bit of an overkill.

A lot of TV's these days have Skype/Camera Built in..

I've done Skype on the cheap in three of our meeting rooms using the existing projector and screen and in two rooms the existing sound system and in one just a Logitech powered speaker system.

I usually just use the mic in a HD Logitech USB camera like one of these

which are currently $49 at DSE. The camera has zoom, tilt and pan so that even in a larger room, you can get the camera to zoom onto one person or a few. The sound can be a bit echoey given that the camera is mounted above the projector screen far from the speakers but I have got around that by using Sennheiser wireless mics which were bought for large meetings to enable people in the rear of the room to be heard during question time.

How about an Intel NUC hanging off the back of a big screen. Just get a copy of windows and you will have a really grunty little solution. Won't be cheap but will be definitely work well. Can be re-purposed as well if need be.

The logitech thing looks awesome, but a bit expensive for a single purpose device for most people. Perfect for 20100. Anyone know a cheaper ebay version that works ok?

Panasonic has had skype tv's with webcams for 12 months+
and samsung should have them out too now.
