For years we colocated with ICONZ, and they have good infrastructure, knowledgeable people and good support. Not the cheapest option in the world though. Another one is Hosting Direct.

The combination of Windows + local based servers isn't going to be cheap for a VPS I'm afraid, I like these guys (but there are many other options):

As part of web performance, it's important to know WHERE your audience is. I'm going to write a series of blog posts on this, but one of the things to consider is location. We know that 75% of all New Zealand traffic to Geekzone comes from Auckland - therefore hosting in AKL makes more sense in terms of speed than anywhere else.

Obviously there are other things to consider, but everything single thing is important when trying to reach your customer base.

freitasm: This would be true for larger countries or if you had customers overseas, but for NZ I don't think it would make too much difference.

For example my ping (I'm based in Auckland):

Auckland - 8ms
Wellington - 10ms
Christchurch - 22ms

As along as your host is well peered it shouldn't matter too much.

Your question is fairly loaded, without knowing what application you're hosting, the requirements of said application, what up-time you're expecting / SLA and budget, it's nearly impossible to put forward a single provider.

You're best to approach several providers and start pre-sales engagements with them to ensure their offering with meet your expectations as not all VPS server are alike, in fact they vary greatly.

Thank you for advise, be sure i would do such things if it would be important to me, but i am not negotiating professional solution for my critical business, just some personal things/projects for a while ;)
