Been following on Web Hosting Talk the affects of the Hurricane on New York Datacentres/connectivity. Luckily most have their generators and servers a few floors up and fibre should be fine even if its flooded. But the issue seems to be their fuel tank designs:

I can understand putting the fuel in the basement due to the weight but it could be an idea to put the pump upstairs too :)

Love how they are carrying diesel in drums up the stairs to keep things going.
