I got a super cheap crashplan subscription in their last November black Friday sale and its time to renew. I've googled around but cant find any decent discount codes anywhere. Anyone got anything hidden up their sleves?

I've got the same deal (got free 1 year during the 1st hour of said sale ;-) ) Judging by their past deals they generally exclude existing subscribers from getting the good deals though.

I only really use it to backup from 1 machine, any idea if you can switch to their single machine solution from family?

You can still get the deals for new customers only by just using a new email address to sign up with, which is what I did to get the sale price last year. Just put the new code in and didnt have to re -upload anything.

Im thinking I might just flag the paid for version and just backup to my work pc or something. Renewing a family subscription is quite expensive.

I'm in the same boat. Brought a family sub at 100% discount, however, there's really only 1 machine I need backed up (I have 2 machines, 1 at 300GB (it's really only 150GB but moved so counted twice), the other at 4GB). Would like to drop the the 4GB  one and just stick with the 300GB one, however, I can't see any way of doing that.

I did receive an email them offering me 2 months free on renewal (pay for 12, get 14months service), however, it's only for a straight renewal of the family sub, not the transfer I want to do.

There are detailed instructions on switching from family to single once you log on, however, I don't think there's a way to get any discount with it.

Same for me! :D

Found this code online: PROTECT_DISCOUNT_15

But not sure where to put it during the checkout process?

I also got an email a week out from my expiry date offering me 2 months free (14 months total).

I got it free last year but it was so slow that I stopped using it. I still think that having an offsite backup by buying a physical drive and storing it elsewhere is the way to go. Especially if you need to restore the data, as it will be a lot faster.

After switching to Crashplan Australia I think I upload at about 3-4 Mbps. Good enough for me.

Actually I just checked this (haven't checked for a while) and I'm getting over 9Mbps upload to Crashplan Australia.

never had an issue with upload speed, and getting 100% discount last year made it even more sweet. I'll try using another email address and see if they have the same deal tonight again. Having said that i would still pay for it anyway as loosing data costs far more.
