Hey Geekers,

We are looking for a desktop texting service - we need it to be two way and reasonably cheap..

We have +50 texts heading out each day and expect replies back...

Texting from a phone is a cheap - but not a practical solution...

I would be interested to see what is out there...

Just thinking on it - maybe even an airdroid connection to a mobile might help?

Any ideas would be greatfully appreciated.

Thanks
Grunta

Pushbullet possibly could work for you you, it requires linking to a Google account to work but did allow full 2 way texting through chrome browser

Hi, do you want these texts to be automated or are you gonna have someone type them up and send them one at a time?

For the manual options, Pushbullet or MightText would work (I personally use mightyText)

I use mightytext with an Android phone.

It has an extension in Chrome and I can access my texts from any computer.

Plus it is free.

With spark?

Engage them about etxt. However it is best-effort/no guarantee delivery etc.

Can allows for domain approval email integration or web portal.

Ive used the following before in a work environment and found it quite good but the prices look a bit high.

At work we use TNZ - http://www.tnz.co.nz/ but it's unlikely to be the cheapest option. We're a very low-volume user, so it works out as $0.20+GST/text, but free to receive replies. I set it up as our staff aren't the most technical, and there's a clear step-by-step guide they can follow to use it.

You suggested Airdroid yourself, why not use that one?

Now SMS Lite

Used it a couple of years ago. You will need a GSM modem for the SIM card. Also works with an Android phone acting as modem.

We use this also, although typically one way, I assume it works like an email back to the originating email address.

Basically send and email to a them and the convert it into a txt and send it out.  Pretty simple and may, or may not, suit the method you are using to generate the txt message content.
