I'm hoping someone can assist me with a query.

We are deploying some new HPE servers and will at the same time be upgrading our VMware licensing.

If we purchase the normal VMware licensing we can get however many years renewals/support upfron and then renew annually after that.

If we purchase the HPE OEM VMware it has a cheaper initial purchase price (with the trade off that it has to be run on HPE servers). We can purchase this with 1 or 5 years renewals/support upfront, but it is unclear what happens after that.

Can you renew HPE VMware on an annual basis, or is it a matter of repurchasing the whole license once the initial contract term is up?

This seems like a really simple question that your reseller could answer

You'd think so, but apparently it doesn't seem to be obvious to them either. They are escalating to try to find an answer.
