Who has received an email which starts like this?

Hello!

My nickname in darknet is [redacted].
I hacked this mailbox more than six months ago,
through it I infected your operating system with a virus (trojan) created by me and have been monitoring you for a long time.

So, your password from [redacted] is [redacted]

The sender claims to have hacked the recipient's email and social media and have webcam photos of them watching porn. Some versions of this include an alleged password. The sender claims they have dirt on the recipient and will send it to all their contacts if a ransom is not paid via Bitcoin.

I have received this as have others.

What sets this apart from other scams is the password is legitimate.

Because I do not reuse passwords, it was easy for me to track the compromised-source down to a now-defunct business directory site.
