User has Office 2019 Home and Business installed - has now decided they require MS Access, so purchased license for Access 2019.

But upon trying to install, gets message that they have to remove H+B before installing Access.

WTF.

Yes, they should have just gone down the O365 route, but they didnt need Access at the time of getting H+B.

Anyone know of a work around ? Obviously user wont be happy if they need to buy a different product.......

TIA :)

It could be 64bit vs 32bit issue. Both installs would need to be same bit

No, we have seen this before. It was supposed to be fixed by MS YEARS ago, but as usual it never gets fixed. It's a supid problem to start with. We ended up having to get the customer OLP office, which they were pissed about.

Honestly, MS do some absolutely brain dead stuff.

I found out they removed the RDP Session manager and the idle time from task manager, now you get that information from a separate command line utility. WHY!?

I could give you a list as long as my arm of annoyances about stuff like this. Don't even get me started on the fact that a brand new computer can't find Windows Updates by typing "update" but will find it if you type "updates"

/me smh.

Sort of off topic, but office 365 for business doesn't include MS Access.
However, I have had success just installing 365 home (which does include Access) with the business licence.

My guess is that you've installed one of the apps using click-to-run, and the other is using the traditional MSI format. I've run into this before and the solution was to get matching installation methods - so if H&B was installed with click-to-run, then Access 2019 needs to be installed using click-to-run too.

Here's some info - hope it helps: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/office-installed-with-click-to-run-and-windows-installer-on-same-computer-isn-t-supported-30775ef4-fa77-4f47-98fb-c5826a6926cd
