Hey team,

Got a requirement to do some advertising displays for a client, what's your go to software for this? There will only be 3-4 displays.

I imagine some sort of server based management tool for setting up the content, managing displays, etc. And then some sort of thin client-esque machines (Intel NUC, compute stick, or maybe even Raspberry Pi) on the displays themselves to actually play the content.

Obviously a commercial environment so a fully supported product is good, but if there is a great open source DIY system happy to take a look too! Don't care if it's Windows or Linux based either (actually would sway towards something Linux based, like a LAMP stack server and all management via a web interface).

Another pi based one is https://www.yodeck.com which I have had a quick play with to try to make an instagram wall on a pi.

Cheers, they both look quite good. Quite like the idea of piSignage's white label product, could be worth exploring more. Will get a test account and give it a go

We have used xibo https://xibo.org.uk/about for a couple of displays.

We also have a couple of TVs with built in digital signage functionality but they were stupid expensive and the server software for driving them was feature poor.

My brother in law was either looking at, or finally did, implement a pi based solution. From memory he was looking at something that was server based, and the pi clients served the content. It was to be rolled out across multiple sites.
Not much help I know, but if I find out more I'll post about it.

Depending what you mean by "Digital Signage", you could just use an oldish PC automatically logging in to an account that loads a PowerPoint (or Libre Office equivalent) slide show.

Yes I know it's crude and nasty, but it requires no special software, no additional training and no additional costs.
