Hi .

Is buying MS ESD keys legit ?

Its a saving of about $30 each, so approx $400 saving all up for what I need to buy
If I buy elsewhere (eg from Dove, Ingram) , I'll need to justify that decision with facts (not speculation) .

This page from MS has me wondering
"Microsoft does not distribute products keys as standalone products"
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/howtotell/software-digital-downloads

Any reason for not just using CSP ? allows you to scale up and down as required

The Client has VERY specific requirements as to the Version of Office required (as per their software compatibilty list)
ie NOT 365

It seems Ingram also sells ESD's . So why do MS claims they dont sell keys as standalone products .
Are Ingrams ESD's part of bulk licencing only ?

The thing about ESD (Unless its a full retail product) are OEM license and are tied to the PC where you first install it, in other words, if that PC dies, the you are technically supposed to destroy the license

Volume is more but it is significantly more flexible in terms of use rights
