  • Disk space10 GB
  • Monthly transferUnlimited
  • Ram512 MB
  • CPU1
  • $10 per month

VPS is an area that I know next to nothing about but I have a site I wish to run and it requires a VPS host

Has anyone got any experience with the above host on vps?

They seem to be the cheapest around in NZ to run a test on

Comments Please?

PS Be gentle :)

Hi, I am sure others will have some NZ recommendations, but I have several machines in Vultr SYD, pricing for a 25G NVMe, 1vCPU, 1G Ram, 2TB transfer with a Linux OS for AU$7, in the last 5yrs or so I have had several machines with them, never had any issues.

That could be the reason they are the cheapest in nz?

We do 1 CPU / 2GB RAM / 20GB disk for $30/mo ($34.50 incl GST)

Out of interest, what is the site/software that needs a VPS?

VPS is an area that I know next to nothing about but I have a site I wish to run and it requires a VPS host

I recommend getting a managed VPS like Cloudways (https://www.cloudways.com/en/) else just hitting up @danfaulknor for some hosting. Basically with a VPS they're barebones when you get them. You need to install the software, configure them, secure them and keep them up to date. If you go with a managed solution you just load your sites onto them and job done.

I wouldn't recommend in your case going towards a standard VPS. It'll be good to hear about what you're wanting hosted though.

My query as well.... :)

And I can vouch for Dans services :D Not used the VPS offerings but his web hosting is great :)

Probably a good webhost (such as Prodigi) can handle most online software out there, or if like to play dangerously, self host ;)

The software /application

is https://codecanyon.net/item/tictic-android-media-app-for-creating-and-sharing-short-videos/23770993

the creators say "

  • VPS/Cloud: The code will not work on Shared hosting.
  • Ffmpeg should be installed

"

The talk on here so far makes me realise this is all well above my paygrade ! LOL

I can install it all on shared hosting and do the php stuff

But not so much on the vps

We should be able to do ffmpeg on cPanel hosting, but it is CPU intensive. So would be fine for testing but not for production
