Hi Guys,

I am having a random bug/issue with Indesign when every now and again I can't open a page I have created earlier.  Sometimes there is nothing on the page.

We had this problem once before and my "friends" in head office IT were scaning the file with Mcafee at the time.  They denied every thing until the very end.  Want to rule out some similar happening again.

Any ideas on how I do this?

Cheers Shane

OK I have done a quick google and found this

http://ask-leo.com/how_can_i_find_out_who_is_using_a_file_in_use.html

Have installed process explorer on my machine - Now just waiting for issue to occur to see if I can source the problem with this - Or with Computer management on the server.

you could also turn on auditing in windows (group/local policy) so that it writes a message to the event log every time a file is successfully accessed

Instead of using Process Explorer from SysInternals, try File Monitor. I think that's give you some valuable clues as well.

If you wanted there is a free program called 'unlocker' it allows you to unlock the file. and/or close the parent process or service that is locking the file. Of course you don't have to actually kill the service or process, you can just look at which one it is and then take it from there.

Thanks I will try those options - No luck yet in finding what the issue is yet. Problem is it can be rather sporadic.
