Im after some PHP/HTML code that will (when the page is opened) display a list of servers and ping each one and display a simple result such as "Up" or "Down"
Will be running via XAMPP (PHP/Apache etc)

Im pretty lost when it comes to coding of any sort so if anyone can help me itd be appreciated  :)

TIA

You might want to consider a online service that does this stuff for you + more (ping, http request, send txt's, emails, checks from multiple difference geographic locations etc)

Pingdom has a free account for 1 check, I use it on small sites.  There many alternatives that also offer a similar service with a limited (but useful) free account.

Most charge for sms credits or a small month fee for more checks and more advanced features.

One good trick with Pingdom though, is that you can have it send a direct message to your twitter account of down notifications and then have you twitter account setup to txt you the message.

Messages from twitter to your mobile are delivered for free with Telecom or Vodafone which is nice.

THis is for internal servers etc, will be displayed via intranet, so no access to the internet.

You should try www.nsoftware.com. I use this on Geekzone to find IP addresses, WHOIS information and more.

So you want to process a list of servers and display if they are up or down?

Would post code here but it keeps getting filtered out.

So I posted it here. http://sharetext.org/AJU8
