I have been using Alexa.com to monitor a couple of websites in terms of rank in NZ and around the world.  Is there anything better than Alexa?  How accurate is this?

Thanks in advance.

Just to add: excluding Google Analytics of course.

Alexa is not very good in ranking for small to medium sized website as it expects people to have their software on the browsers viewing the website normally.

For larger website it ranks them pretty well.

It can take a long while before you get under 100,000 but you might not ever reach that figure.

But yes Alexa is a quazzi standard and a few advertising companies will only accept you if your alexa ranking is below a certain number.

There are alot of people who love (and hate) Alexa as (I've heard) its quite easy to cheat to get High ranking but overall I find it ok, take take it with a pinch of salt.

If you want to see how you compare to a few other websites in NZ in size/viewers etc you could look at www.traceics.co.nz (note: this is my website) and lists around 250 odd other NZ websites. I have alot more to do on this website when I get time but getting time to show all the stats properly from the websites.

think alexa is very accurate at all, especially with websites that only get a few thousands views a week, this is because their main datasource is people using their alexa toolbar and i am still to come across anyone who uses this?
as far as anything better than this goes i cannot help you out, sorry

Don't trust Alexa in terms of numbers. But some think it's great since if you get the wrong figure, you the wrong figure for every site...

Look at quantcast.com. You can get Quantified, which is a code (like Google Analytics) and is growing quickly, as a competitor to Nielsen Online in the U.S. For your own knowledge, Google Analytics.
