OVER: That johnr guy on the Vodafone forums needs his access revoked. No customer service skills at all and he always comes off as an ass.

I have been following this thread and great device btw but fail to see how JohnR should have his access revoked? What does this have to do with the price of tea in china. Stay on topic mate!

I have to jump here aswell and add how much value he provides in his own time not only at work but after work too. The guy is a wealth of knowledge and knows what he's talking about! So what if he doesn't butter people up with sweet talk, Not his MO but he gets things done! John is an engineer and doesn't even work in customer service so hardly in a position to need customer skills.

I agree this forum is about sharing experiences thoughts etc not putting someone down cause you don't like a few comments. How about you volunteer your time on a forum and try to help people beyond the need! He helps anyone from CEO's to prepay customers. I know this cause I work with John and he's a very good mate of mine.

Agree. I was with TCL and one of the reps here and JohnR was always helpful - even when TCL and VF were competitors. He's to the point, sure, but he's also very busy, knows his stuff, and has a 'real job' too (as I did).

The thing to remember is that asking a question on GZ - and any other forum - is great because others will have the same question and appreciate the answer. Venting might make you feel better (been there, done that!), but it ain't gonna sort things out any quicker, and it won't really help you or anyone else. Remember, too, that you can always directly contact many of the reps here from any telco.

Cheers! gb

Finch: Who wants to upload some pictures of their brand new shiny HTC M8s? :)

Received mine yesterday from Telecom (review unit). Below it is side-by-side with a Samsung S5. Seriously, it feels so well built, and what a brilliant screen!

Back to the topic MF which one is your pick out of the HTC one and S5?

The HTC One. The screen is great, it feels more fluid and doesn't have all the S-[xxx] apps that no one uses.

It's great. My fav so far is 3D effect, and ufocus is amazing for a phone - but that's after about 5 mins to play with the camera.

I *finally* got mine today. Been playing with it for the last couple of hours and am absolutely loving it. Such a great upgrade from the S3!!

For my 2c, I've always found John to be helpful. Even if we don't always see eye-to-eye on everything, he goes out of his way to help, and I think he is an asset to the forums.

Here's a funny question, how to I unlock the m8 when I get a text, and go straight to the message (if one message)/messages (if multiple messages)?

Anyone tempted to hold off and get the apparent HTC One Prime?

5.5" QHD, Snapdragon 805, 18MP camera? Sounds awesome!

Sorry for @johnr, he is incredibly helpful (and so are the rest of the staff on Geekzone and VF community) and I just meant to highlight the issues that can occur with cutting your SIM, not drop him in a pile of scorn.

Went to Harvey Norman to have a play with it, and 2 staff and myself couldn't unlock the phone from the 8-bit looking lock screen. But all of a sudden tilting it at an angle seemed to unlock it. Does anyone know anything about this?

I'll swap you my mini for your rolls if you want.

But absolutely loving the phone. It's also the first time I have had 4G which is brilliant too! Loving the Motion Launch gestures and, much to my surprise, Blinkfeed.

Yep, mentioned it a few pages back before things went OT. Couple of things to consider though,
goodness knows what price it will be,
maybe for limited markets only (bands, freqs, etc),
not offered by NZ telecoms (you can have any colour as long as it's grey),
might end up turning into the Max and be too big.

Did you mean QHD or UHD?
