Ambrose_1: I'm real keen on this phone, but wondering if I should wait for Samsung I9000.

Thoughts?

On paper samsung phones always seem awesome but they always turn out horrible. These phones are pretty much same specced, differences are slightly better processor, bluetooth 3.0, internal storage and super amoled 4 inch screen.
In my opinion you should go for the desire or the nexus one (I have a nexus and couldn't be happier). If the desire could make me a sandwich I would marry it lol its that sexy.

The support on these phones are awesome, xda makes hacking these phones fun lol you will get bored with a samsung phone. Updates will be very slow as you will have to wait for samsung to adapt their ui to whatever androids next update is, same goes with sense. Heard the original galaxy took months to get an update and will never make it to 2.1 (legally anyways) and that was released q2 last year i think.

Oh and the gpu is the best on the samsung, but there are no games on android that will take advantage of this and no developper will develop a game for one phone.

If you want to wait for a phone I would suggest waiting for something that wastes the 1ghz snapdragon, anything else will be made redundant before the years out.

DunedinComics: So, just to make the wait a bit more frustrating, Mother Nature has arranged a volcanic erruption that has grounded all air traffic out of Britain for a time.  Shallow I know, but I hope mine got out in time - the tracking update last references my parcel in the UK but it may have left prior to the lockdown.  If it updates to say otherwise I'll post.

Edit.  sorry i should have included a link so there you go Smile

According to that article, it appears as if the lockdown started late last night for us? And according to the latest update for my tracking number, it has been in transit from Stansted, GB since 12:18pm our time yesterday (14th Apr). So hopefully it made it out in time :)

Here's hoping your tracking number has similar info, DC? :)

Thanks Smile Mine was in Stansted GB at 12.35 PM our time today and then is last listed as being in transit at Poyle GB at 9.35 PM tonight, so I'm wondering did it get grounded there or is that the normal path, Poyle being south of Stansted and near Hearthrow (where it probably flys out from).  All a bit confusing but I guess it will be here when it's here.  There are no grounding notices on the FedEx info so I kinda hope that means all is well...

DC: Poyle or Poole? Mine was at Poole, GB at first, then it was transferred to Stansted, GB, where it's been since noon yesterday our time :)

NZtechfreak: I'm banking on the fact that it will only be updated once it's reached NZ, so I'm hoping that right now, it's on a plane towards us.

I tried googling "in transit fedex" for some clarification as to what exactly "in transit" means, and according to most sources, it means it's on its way, and not "stuck in limbo" somewhere lol. I would assume if something as big as a volcanic eruption disrupting air traffic indeed halted plane schedules, FedEx would issue an announcement to let us know?

The lady who called me this morning asking for my credit card details didn't mention anything about delayed flights either... Fingers crossed! Smile

Def. Poyle.  The 'in transit' is a vauge terms isn't it? Smile  I like to think it means that it left Poyle at 9.35 tonight and is on its way.  I agree it will probably only be updated once it lands here but I doubt I'll see it tomorrow - the estimated delivery is Monday and since FedEx apparently don't do weekends it should be accurate.  Ahh well plenty else to do over the weekend and will give me something to look forward to about Monday which makes a change!

Haha yeah, it's an extremely vague term. And yes, that's exactly how I'm looking at it. On the plane heading towards us! Laughing

I'm hoping the same as you guys, but to be honest I don't think it is, usually there is a departure scan with Fedex when it leaves a country...

good stuff Smile you must have had yours sneak out on one of the last flights.  Though my tracking says 'in transit' FedEx have confirmed for me it is grounded at Poyle till the airspace opens back up.
